Government cost cuts blamed for deteriorating school buildings

Government cuts are being blamed for the condition of school buildings in Stockport.

It’s been reported Didsbury Road Primary needs to be rebuilt – and heads say £3million needs to spent spent to make the premises adequate.

Stockport Council claims say £42million has been lost since 2010 and subsequently a black hole of £120 million needs to be filled.

Previous figures suggest the local authority is one of the poorest funded in the country for schools.
