Tomorrow is valentines day, a day that is set aside for lovers right?

A day to confess your love for another person, perhaps in secret or perhaps announce to the world and your one true love.

But what if I asked you to change that this year.

What if I asked you to instead love yourself.

I can already feel the uncomfortable vibes from you as you read this.

What am I asking from you?

​​​​​​​To love yourself would be self indulgent surely?

Well no actually it would not be self indulgent at all.

we often struggle to love ourselves, to meet our own needs first, favouring making others happy first.

Now this may seem like a lovely quality to have, however if you put someone else before your own needs then you are not looking after yourself.

If you are not looking after yourself, you will soon impact upon those that love you.

So loving yourself and looking after your needs first actually makes you a better person and therefor more stable to then love and look after others.

​​​​​​​We often give compliments to others but we find it hard to receive them back.

How would you feel if you gave another person a present and they gave it back to you?

​​​​​​​It is nice to give certainly but we also must be comfortable with receiving.

By loving ourselves we make ourselves the best version of ourselves and this then is the gift we have to give to our loved ones.

So in preparation for this Valentines day, whoever your Valentines was going to be I ask that you make yourself your own Valentine for the day.

Do something nice for yourself, whether you go for a walk or out for lunch, dance around your lounge or have a lie in.

Do what makes you smile.
