RSPCA officers were surprised to find a poisonous fire salamander in a Cheshire Park this weekend

RSPCA officers were surprised to find a poisonous fire salamander in a Cheshire Park this weekend – after it was first thought to be a newt.

The animal was found by a member of the public in a tupperware box in Woodbank Park, Stockport, on Sunday afternoon.

The salamander, native to southern Europe, Africa and Asia is now at a specialist exotic boarding facility. It’s believed to have been an abandoned pet.
