Drugs deaths on the increase in the North West

A record number of people are being killed by both legal and illegal drugs in England and Wales – and the North West has the second highest figures in the country-  according to reports this week.

Official figures on poisoning show there were more than 3,700 cases last year – that’s a two percent increase on figures for 2015.

More than half of the deaths involved an opiate such as heroin or morphine.
