A deputy voluntary services manager at Stepping Hill Hospital has been honoured as a community hero in recognition of her inspirational work.

June Heywood has received the ‘Community Hero’ award from Stockport Council alongside other champions who have made outstanding contributions in their local area.June has been deputy voluntary service manager at Stepping Hill Hospital for five years.

She helps oversee the hospital’s 350 volunteers, who work as ward helpers, dining companions, guides, chaplains, peer supporters (breastfeeding and stroke) and in administration.
