Cheshire Police is urging residents to help make the county safer

Cheshire Police is urging residents to help make the county safer by handing in unwanted firearms or ammunition as part of nationwide firearms surrender.

The force says people can forget if they have a firearm long-forgotten and gathering dust in a loft or shed, while others don’t realise the firearm they have needs to be legally registered with police.

The scheme which runs to next Saturday 26 November, gives people the chance to safely dispose of firearms or ammunition without the risk of being prosecuted at Macclesfield Police station and other locations in the county.
