Badger cull could be given the go-ahead on land in East Cheshire

Cheshire East Council bosses say they can’t guarantee a stop to badger culling taking place on some land in the region.

The local authority has announced it would stop any badgers being culled on land it directly controls. Bosses say land that it rents out – including tenanted farms – would not be included in that rule.

This week the govenrment issued a licence for a cull to take place in Cheshire as well as other parts of the country as part of its strategy to rid counties of bovine TB.
